You’re Not Ready for These Game Day Recipes

March 21, 2026

Hey Reader!

It's been a while since my last email, and I wanted to check in with you personally.

Over the past few weeks, I stepped away to welcome my newborn and focus on recovery after pregnancy. I also spent some unexpected time in the hospital due to preeclampsia, and alongside that, I’ve been continuing my journey managing fibroids. Because health is such a big part of how and what I cook, I wanted to share that with you. If you’ve walked a similar path, please know you’re not alone here.

As I ease back into work, my recipe schedule will look a little different for a while. I won’t be focusing on full dinner recipes right now, but I am working on a large project to publish more than 70 sauce recipes to help you mix, match, and build meals more creatively with what you already have at home.

I also just released my Spring Seasonal Produce List to make grocery shopping easier and help you choose fruits and vegetables at their peak flavor and value this season.

Just Maika Cooking has always been about learning ingredients, building confidence in the kitchen, and cooking in ways that support real life. I’m excited to keep sharing that with you as I return step by step.

If there’s something you’d like to learn next, just reply and let me know. I read every message.

Explore. Experiment. Taste.

PS. Don't forget to rate the recipes you've tried and leave feedback in the comment sections. This helps me and others!

May 06, 2026 Hey Reader! It is already feeling like full-on summer here in Florida, even though we are technically still in spring, but that does not mean we have to miss out on everything this season brings. When I think of spring, I think of fresh fruits, crisp vegetables, and those light, vibrant flavors that make meals feel refreshing instead of heavy. This May, I have strawberries on my mind, along with a growing goal to travel and experience cherry blossom season in Korea and Japan one...

April 29, 2026 Hey Reader! Spring is one of my favorite seasons for cooking because everything feels fresh again. Markets fill with crisp young vegetables, bright herbs, and vibrant colors that naturally inspire lighter, healthier meals that work just as well on warm afternoons as they do on cool or rainy evenings. It's a season that invites a kitchen reset with simple dishes that highlight freshness rather than heaviness. Did you know that many spring vegetables, such as asparagus, peas, and...

April 17, 2026 Hey Reader! Lately, in my own kitchen as a busy mom with a newborn, I’ve been leaning into batch-style cooking, making three to four dishes in about an hour. It sounds like a lot, but it helps me stay ahead for the week and still keep meals interesting. One recent session (literally yesterday) included a minestrone-style vegetable and chickpea soup with store-bought ricotta ravioli, kept separate to add later if we wanted something heartier; ground turkey Bolognese with...
