A Little Update From My Kitchen

August Newsletter

Hey Reader!

I wanted to send you a more personal update about what's happening with Just Maika Cooking and what you can expect from my emails moving forward.

First, you may start seeing weekly emails powered by Grow by Mediavine. Those emails will help keep you updated on what's new on Just Maika Cooking, including new recipes, cooking tutorials, kitchen guides, and other posts you may have missed.

I'm outsourcing that part because, quite simply, I am a one-woman show.

Behind the scenes, I'm developing recipes, cooking, photographing, filming, editing videos, writing and updating blog posts, maintaining the website, answering questions, and doing all the other little things that keep Just Maika Cooking going.

Did you know? Mangoes belong to the same plant family as cashews and pistachios! So the next time you're slicing into a juicy mango, remember that its botanical relatives include two of our favorite snack nuts. How cool is that?

"I'm slowly starting to get back out there and do more Just Maika Cooking things while finding a balance that works for my family and me."

And, of course, I'm also Mom.

My baby girl will be turning 6 months old soon, and I've been incredibly fortunate to be home with her during these first months.

So while Grow will help with the weekly updates, you'll still hear directly from me once a month.

My monthly newsletter will be where I can actually sit down and talk to you. I can share what I've been working on, what's happening behind the scenes, recipes and projects I'm excited about, and what's coming next.

Right now, one of my biggest goals is getting more videos out. I'm also working on more recipes that I hope to have ready in time for fall, so keep an eye out for those.

"Video by video, I'm updating the detail section with helpful links, ingredient list, and more."

I'm also continuing to build the Let's Get Cooking welcome series that every new Just Maika Cooking subscriber receives. I'm updating those emails with more useful cooking lessons, resources, and tips.

And I would love your help with that.

If there's something you've always wanted me to explain, a cooking question you think deserves more attention, or something you wish you had learned when you first started cooking, tell me. I may be able to turn your suggestion into a lesson for the Let's Get Cooking series so it can help future readers too.

I love what I do. I love cooking, I love teaching, and I love combining the two through Just Maika Cooking. I'm moving forward strong, but I'm also learning to do it with balance because there is only one of me.

If you'd like to support the work I'm doing, simply visiting and reading Just Maika Cooking helps. You'll see ads on the website, which help support the free content I create, and I use affiliate links when recommending trusted brands, ingredients, and kitchen tools. If you purchase through one of those links, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

And if you ever want to contribute directly, you can also leave a small donation. Even $1 helps support recipe testing, ingredients, website expenses, and the work that goes into keeping these resources free.

That's it. I'm not going to spend every newsletter asking you for something.

Mostly, I want to keep teaching, keep cooking, keep experimenting, and keep building a resource that makes you feel a little more confident when you walk into your kitchen.

Thank you for reading, clicking, cooking, commenting, and simply being part of this journey. It means a lot that you're still here.

And please keep cool out there during this hot summer. I'll be over here working on fall recipes and pretending Florida got the memo that the seasons are supposed to change! Seesh!

Talk to you next month,

Explore. Experiment. Taste.
-Chef Maika

PS. Don't forget to rate the recipes you've tried and leave feedback in their comment sections. This helps me and others!

May 06, 2026 Hey Reader! It is already feeling like full-on summer here in Florida, even though we are technically still in spring, but that does not mean we have to miss out on everything this season brings. This May, I have strawberries on my mind, along with a growing goal to travel and experience cherry blossom season in Korea and Japan one...
